Square Enix and development house Gas Powered Games have joined forces. As part of this new partnership, work has commenced on Supreme Commander 2, a sequel to the excellent real-time strategy created by Chris Taylor and GPG.
"Gas Powered Games is an accomplished development house that has demonstrated its ability to successfully create and develop intellectual properties," said John Yamamoto, president and chief executive officer of Square Enix Ltd. and Square Enix, Inc.. "We are extremely excited to begin working with Gas Powered Games' talented personnel and see this strategic partnership as a significant step in our efforts to bring Square Enix titles to a broader global audience."
Sorry, folks. We don't have any screenshots, trailers or info to show you. The press release also reveals that details on Supreme Commander 2 including gameplay features, platform(s) and a launch date will be specified at a later time.

Also, I sure hope GPG doesn't screw this up like they did Space Siege
Comment:As much as I loved Total Annihilation, and had enjoyed the original Dungeon Siege games, Chris Taylor and Gas Powered Games have really started to drop off a cliff. I mean Square Enix is now the publisher, how many publishers has that company gone through already. If SupCom 2 doesn't do well, GPG is toast. Hopefully they don't make the sequel quite as complicated as the original. I'm all for strategy games that require thinking, but there was too much going on in SupCom to make it any fun for me.
