Persians didnt look like monsters that's for sure.
Also the Agoge of Sparta was indeed like that. They were born soldiers, Sparta had nothing else to show rather than battles and epic victories.

a very good movie indeed.. i was hoping that they would show the part where the 10k spartans resbacked at the persians..

i watched it when it came out and it was great. the grading was something interesting - everything brown... watching the movie reminded me a lot of my history classes where we learned about that

Ive seen it twice now. I admit, most of the movie was fairly good but it never really "caught" with me. There was just something about 300 men fighting a "evil dishonorable persian god king" who managed to get a massive army but wasnt smart enough to send men to attack at the same time as shooting arrows that just put me off.

Yeah, there was a lot of it that didn't make much sense (like the dude carrying aroudn the persian gold he was bribed with to the senate or whatever), but it was cool to see some bits of how the battle might have been fought.

but if they'd attacked at the same time as the arrows were being fired it would have been friendly fire

but there were a lot of arrows, so basically all of their men would have died while the Spartans were just shielding themselves from the arrows.. the men at the frontline would have all been killed so unable to kill any spartans lol..

I have to admit that 300 was one of the best movies ever saw.

Charge em and start hitting, if they put up shields then the guys can poke through em to kill spartans, if they try to fight arrows will take them out.

Or boulders, theres always boulders.
