Game Info: Fifth installment of the cod series

Quote:
The next Call of Duty game may not delve back into familiar WWII territory after all, as Activision CEO Mike Griffith reveals that the fifth game will take the series to a "new military theatre."

Despite rumours and strong reactions that the series would be returning to the over-used WWII era, Griffith revealed: "We'll bring the intensity of the recent Call of Duty: Modern Warfare title to a new military theatre to engage our significantly larger user base which nearly doubled last year as new users came into the franchise," according to Gamespot.

Another modern setting would get our vote (we're bored of those crappy 1940s guns and sluggish propeller-powered planes).

Griffith also revealed that the next James Bond game, in development at Treyarch, will use the CoD 4 engine, which is good news. The first good 007 game since GoldenEye? Maybe, just maybe...
Beta/Demo Release Date: Not Released

As always thx for GameRadar for releasing news on these games.

By the looks of it they are going with a future type this time, They are doing the same thing that the bf series did. I for one dont like the bf 2 or bf 2142 as much as i loved playing the bf 1942 and the exp packs for it.

Wtf, COD5? A fifth one...damn...COD4 is already hard lol. I hope they make it in the future, because COD actually knows how to make guns. Haha.

Activision is soon to reveal the upcoming Call of Duty 5, from developers Treyarch, for the first time though exactly how remains unclear.

Infinity Ward are sitting this one out as Treyarch get their turn behind the wheel, it's believed that COD5 will be revisiting the trench lines of the second World War.

"The reveal’s scheduled for mid-to-late June," said a source to videogaming247. We could get hit with a barrage of images, some gameplay clips or teased with a trailer - no one's sure just yet.

The first details on Call of Duty 5: World at War have been revealed by a UK magazine called gamesTM. The issue which was published today claims that the game is going to be grittier, have scarier enemies with new tactics and contain co-op modes.

“There will be co-op for the first time in a Call of Duty. Also there will be vehicles and squad-based elements to the multiplayer. Formats: PC, PS3, 360 and Wii. The Wii version is being worked on by a separate team within Treyarch. (The mag) reckons it’ll be a much closer comparison between the next-gen and Wii versions than any other Wii game on the market.

“Jeez, they have the CoD4 engine running on the Wii apparently. They are using (the CoD4 engine) for all the next-gen ones too. The Wii Zapper will be supported.”

Oh sweet, I had heard a little about it being futuristic, but if it is, I prefer it to be so. I am one of those guys who didn't like the other call of duty games but loved 4, and personally if it just moves up another era, I say that isn't too bad. Oh nvm I read that second to last post didn't clearly look at it. Dang I don't want it to be a World War II game.
